Headaches

Conditions We Treat / Headaches

Headaches can turn into a daily occurrence that disturbs work, hobbies, and family time.

In many cases, headaches aren't associated with a disease but are instead a result of daily habits and actions.

Once you've identified the type of headache you are usually affected by, you can begin taking a proactive approach to reduce the risk.

The most common triggers for headaches include:

• Stress

• Fatigue

• Hunger

• Caffeine withdrawal

• Lack of sleep

• Smoking

• Allergies

• Hormonal imbalances

• Auto accidents

The two most common types of headaches we see in our office include:

Tension/ Cervicogenic Headache

Migraine Headache

Tension/ Cervicogenic Headache

A cervicogenic headache is a type of headache that starts at the base of the neck and is described as a dull pain that radiates to the back of the head; it can even occasionally spread around the side or front of your head.

These headaches are commonly seen in individuals who spend long hours at the computer each day. The added stress on your neck and upper back muscles adds up throughout time.

Taking a proactive approach with a proper exercise plan in combination with chiropractic adjustment and soft tissue treatment will aid in reducing the risk of tension/ cervicogenic headaches.

Migraine Headache

Migraine headaches are one of the most severe types of headaches there is.

The patients may experience visual disturbances, loss of sensation, nausea, vomiting, and hypersensitivity to light or sound. These symptoms can be experienced before or during the headache.

A chiropractic adjustment, soft tissue treatments, and modifying daily stressors have been shown to be highly effective in reducing migraine intensity and frequency.
